Solid State Switches
APP produces compact solid state high voltage switches capable of operation at large peak currents with fast current risetimes. The switches can be used in place of spark gaps, thyratrons and krytrons. We have built switches operating at voltages up to 60kV, currents of up to15 kA and di/dt of up to 75 kA/μs.
Our currently available switches are described below. Also, our modular design enables us to rapidly and economically configure switches tailored to your applications.

Model S25 8kV, 7kA module, 30 kA/us (data sheet) This solid state switch module consists of two silicon thyristors in series, designed specifically for high di/dt, high voltage, pulsed power applications. The module can be provided with a self-powered gate drive circuit to make it easy to connect multiple modules in series for higher voltage switches. APP has built switches capable of up to 50kV using this approach. |
