Solid State Switches

APP produces compact solid state high voltage switches capable of operation at large peak currents with fast current risetimes. The switches can be used in place of spark gaps, thyratrons and krytrons. Our modular design enables us to rapidly and economically configure switches tailored to your applications.

We have built switches operating at voltages up to 60kV, currents of 15 kA and di/dt of 75 kA/μs.

 

Pulsed Power System Design and Manufacturing

Applied Pulsed Power designs and builds pulsed power systems with peak powers ranging from 1 MW to 1 TW. The systems use a variety of switching technologies, including solid state switches, thyratrons, ignatrons, magnetic switches, and high-pressure spark gaps. We have supplied systems ranging from high average power solid state switched modulators to the 1 MA, 1 TW COBRA z-pinch driver developed for Cornell University. We can develop custom systems to meet your requirements, often by modifying one of our existing proven designs.

Components

Applied Pulsed Power develops and fabricates specialized components for pulsed power applications. These include pulsed high field magnet coils, high speed gas valves and fast response time diagnostics.

 

R&D

Applied Pulsed Power conducts in-house R&D for ourselves and our customers. This work has led to the development of ion sources, intense ion diodes and other viable technology.
