Applied Pulsed Power develops and fabricates specialized components for pulsed power applications. These include pulsed high field magnet coils, high speed gas valves and fast response time diagnostics.
High Speed Valves Gas valves with fast pressure rise and fall times for use in pulsed plasma and ion diode systems. Valves with radial (Model S20A) and axial gas flow are available. Contact us for more information. APP also builds solid state drivers for these systems. |

10 kA, High Speed Gas Valve Driver (data sheet) This 10kA, 3 kV pulse generator is designed to drive from one to four Model S20A high speed gas valves at up to 25 pulses/second. Switching is accomplished through solid state components. |

Pulsed High Magnetic Field Coils APP makes pulsed magnetic field coils for single pulse and repetitively pulsed applications. Practical, repetitively pulsed, magnetic field coils experience large magnetic forces and high power dissipation. APP’s actively cooled coils benefit from careful mechanical design for stress and heat transfer while satisfying the geometric requirements and materials constraints of operation in the high voltage regime. We have experience designing and building both vacuum cast epoxy coil assemblies and innovative no-cast coil assemblies. Fast Ionization Gauge and Controller (data sheet)
APP's hot cathode fast ionization gauge measures time-varying gas density in a localized region. The gauge has been used extensively with hydrogen and nitrogen and should perform well with other gases, with the exception of oxygen.
A basic gauge controller is also available. The controller provides the collector and anode bias voltages for operating the gauge.
